Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the Rural Footprint website. It is based on a technical audit of the staging site carried out in a clean browser session.

Draft: Draft for client and legal review — not approved for final publication.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage (which also keep information in your browser), service workers, cache storage, tracking pixels and device or browser identifiers. They can all store or read information on your device, so they are treated together here.
2. Why Rural Footprint uses them
We use them only to make the website work. At the time of audit the site set no cookies at all, and used browser storage for two strictly functional purposes: remembering your scroll position as you move between pages, and keeping your survey-preview answers on your own device so you can continue where you left off.
We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, tracking pixels, social-media trackers or cross-site identifiers, and no third-party tracker was found on any page during the audit.
3. Inventory
Cookies set by this website: none were observed on any audited page.
| Name / technology | Type | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| tsr-scroll-restoration-v1_3 | Session storage (first party) | This website (routing framework) | Restores your scroll position when you move between pages or go back. | Cleared when you close the browser tab. |
| rf-preview-<pathway> | Local storage (first party) | This website (survey preview) | Keeps your survey-preview answers on your device so you can continue where you left off. Not transmitted to us. | Until you clear your browser storage. |
| Google Fonts requests | Third-party request (no cookie observed) | fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com | Delivers the two website typefaces. Making the request discloses your IP address and browser information to Google. | Not applicable — no cookie was set; the font files are cached by your browser. |
| Administrative sign-in storage | Local storage (first party) | This website (backend client) | Would hold a sign-in session for administrative users only. No such entry is created for ordinary visitors. | Until sign-out or storage is cleared. |
Service workers and cache storage: no service worker is registered and no application cache is created by the site. Your browser's ordinary HTTP cache still applies.
Server-side technical logs are created by our hosting providers when a page is requested. These are not cookies, but they are described in the Privacy Notice.
Whether any additional technology (for example analytics or an embedded map or video) will be added before launch is [Awaiting client confirmation]. If it is, this inventory and, where required, a consent mechanism will be added first.
4. How to control or delete them
- All major browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data in their privacy or site-settings menu.
- Clearing site data for this website removes the scroll-position entry and any survey-preview answers held on your device.
- Private or incognito browsing discards this storage when you close the window.
- You can block third-party font loading with browser settings or extensions, though page appearance may change.
Because no non-essential cookies are currently set, no consent banner is shown. If non-essential technologies are introduced, consent will be requested before they are used.
5. Effect of disabling necessary technologies
The site remains usable if you block storage. You may lose your scroll position when navigating, and survey-preview answers will not be remembered between visits or page reloads. Blocking third-party fonts changes only the appearance of text.
6. Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated whenever the technologies in use change, and re-audited before launch. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last reviewed.
